Lynwood Rotary Club participated in the Cardboard Boat Race at the Annual District Picnic with their boat named ''DREAMERS''. As the “Commodore” for the Rotary Picnic 3rd Annual Cardboard Boat Race for District 5280, PDG Chuck Anderson reported the winners. The defending champions from the Rotary club of Colombo-Americano repeated as champions with their gold colored Boat “El Dorado”.

The 2nd place winner was Lawndale with the “The Lawndale” with solo paddler President Kevin Paul. 3rd place went to the San Pedro Club with their boat “Reggie”. In all thirteen boats were entered.  In addition to the winners the following clubs participated this year with their boats: Beverly Hills’ “Ro Ro Rotary”, Del Amo’s “Paper Weight”, Hawthorne, Koreatown’s “Big Red”, Lynwood’s “Lynwood Rotary Dreamers”, LA Morning’s “The Rebounder”, Palos Verdes Sunset’s “Rotoboat”, South Bay Sunrise’s “Otto Win II”, Rio Hondo-Vernon’s “Big Banana” and Downey/Warren High Interact.

This year had the largest number of Rotarians and guests in attendance-over 500! Music was provided by Carson-Gardena-Dominguez Rotarian Dan Medina. A number of our clubs provided delicious, international food. Seaside Lagoon was the perfect setting for the cardboard boat race, swimming for the kids, games, and more.
