At the October 2 meeting, Lynwood Rotary members and guests saw and heard Rotary District 5280 Governor, Ms. Elsa M. Gilliham talk about the importance of Rotary world-wide and all its humanitarian work. Also attending this annual meeting were the Assistant Governor for the Lynwood Club, Ms. Freddie King and also the chief of staff for the Governor. The highlight of the Governor's presence was her induction of Paul Gothold, Superintendent of the Lynwood Unified School District, to become a member of the Lynwood Rotary Club. In addition, the Governor presented awards to several club members for their work for the club during the 2013 2014 year.

Prior to the start of the regular meeting, the Governor and her staff met with the Rotary Board members for an hour meeting to review the accomplishments of the Lynwood Club as well as the plans of the club for the 2014-2015 year.

At the meeting, there was publicity for the official Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new linear park which will take place on Saturday, October 4, at 11 am at the corner of Harris and Fernwood Avenues.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Training for Commuunity Emergency Response Teams (CERT) / Equipo de la Communidad para Responder a Emergencias, this time in Spanish, Saturday, October 11.
