At our Lynwood Rotary Club meeting on Thursday noon, July 24, members and guests heard Omar Franco make his third presentation as the weekly speaker. Omar mentioned that last year he was for two months an intern for the City of Lynwood in the Finance Department, (unpaid) followed by six months as a part time employee in the Human Resources Department. Omar talked about his experience in becoming a Deferred Action student. Also he talked about his experience with the LA Dream Team organization and about the recent visit to Washington DC from some LA Dream Team members. Also he talked about the proposal by the Bell Gardens Mayor to use a Salvation Army facility in that city for sheltering some of the current youth immigrants with funds provided from one or more federal funding sources. Also he talked about the procedures in process for obtaining driver licenses in California for undocumented residents. And he described his classes he is taking at LA City College.

A final quote from Omar: United We Dream, We dream for a better World, We are Dream Team LA and we will make our Dreams come True.

At the Rotary Board meeting, held at 11:30 am before the regular meeting, among other things, the Board approved the first step for membership for Marisela Santana. As Public Information Officer (PIO) for the City of Lynwood, Marisela frequently attends our weekly meetings to talk about coming city related events in the community. President Raj also presented the club budget a second time and urged all Board members to review closely the proposed budget, with the objective of approving the club budget at the scheduled Board meeting for Thursdays, 11:30 am, July 31.
