At  the  July  2th  Meeting, the members  and  guests participated in an informal luncheon, as a part of working the Fireworks stand.

Everyone present were encouraged to come back on July 4, at the Fireworks Stand, when Lucy  again provided the food, which  included a delicious BBQ menu.

Daniel passed around a flyer from the Cancer Relay Event held the previous weekend, the day after the annual installation evening event that our club secretary, Lulu, provided us.  The flyer, printed by the American Cancer Society organizers, showed the participating relay groups, and the funds donated by each group.  In order of donations, Lynwood Rotary was shown as the third highest, raising around $1,400 for the American Cancer Society event.

It was noted that we will all be interested to find out how successful the fireworks stand will be this year, in terms of raising funds for our projects throughout the year.  As everyone knows, this is our major fund raising event each year.

A great thanks is due to all the volunteers who worked the fireworks stand, a total of five days, to include Tuesday, June 30, which required about 8 hours for the unpacking and set up and other work getting ready for sales to start on Wednesday, July 1.  Special recognition is due to Roosevelt ES Youth act volunteers and their parents, and of course, special thanks to the organizers and leaders, Fernando and Tila Millan.
