For the meeting on January 15, 2015  12pm – 1:30pm members and guests witnessed the Lynwood Rotary Presentation of Community Recognition and Appreciation Awards as follows:
 
Los Angeles County Fire Chief, Daryl L. Osby, and Captain Ernie Chavez, head of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Century Station. Also presented was the award for Superintendent of the Lynwood Unified School District (LUSD), Paul Gothold.
 
The well-attended audience of more than 40 members and guests heard the presentations by Acting Club President Joe Wang for Captain Ernie Chavez, commander of the Sheriff's Century Station, which serves Lynwood and several unincorporated communities in South Los Angeles.  Lynwood Rotary Secretary Jim Morton presented the award for Fire Chief Daryl L. Osby, head of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.  The third award was presented by Club Public Relations and Community Outreach, Daniel Miller, to Superintendent Paul Gothold, noting the impressive academic gains of LUSD students, as measured by API student scores.
 
Among the coming community events that were promoted at the meeting were the Martin Luther King History Event and Conference that was held on Saturday, January 17, at Bovard Auditorium, USC.  Also mentioned is the coming 2015 Homeless Count as follows:  Wednesday, Jan 28 for the Homeless Youth Count and Thursday, Jan 29 for the Homeless Adult Count.
