For the meeting on January 29, 2015  12pm – 1:30pm  the planned presentation from Marvin Aceves, President of the Lynwood Block Watch Association talk about his role as the President of the Block Watch Captains during his two year serving as President (2014 & 2015) had to be rescheduled to March 5, due to an unanticipated work load on a current reconstruction project of Marvin Aceves.
 
As a substitute presentation, Daniel Miller, a hand-out provided by Deborah Warren, Community Outreach Liaison from Lynwood Worship Center, entitled, Advance Health Care Directive Kit, produced by the California Medical Association.  (Ms. Warren will the speaker on Thurs, Feb 19).  Daniel reviewed some of the specific provisions that one need's to address if a person or a member of a family is reaching a point in life where authority needs to be delegated to some else about specific health care directives.
 
Daniel also presented several coming community events to include:  the Fourth Annual Gospel Brunch organized by Senator Ricardo Lara.  The event is Sat., Feb. 7, from 10am – 1pm at Bateman Hall.  Complimentary tickets can be requested and picked up at the Lynwood Senior Center, and also at Senator Lara's two District offices.
 
As mentioned at the meeting, Daniel Miller stated that he was going to participate in the Homeless Count, scheduled for:    Thur, Jan 29, Homeless Adult Count.
The event was from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm.  There was instruction starting at 7:30 pm at Bateman Hall, 11331 Ernestine Ave.   Note:  Daniel did participate in this event for the first time and suggests that in two years, new participants join this effort, especially, members of Block Watch groups.
 
Daniel Miller also mentioned two coming events with Rotary Youth-Act as follows (being organized by Tila and Fernando Millan:  Sat. March 1, Help with Feeding the Homeless at a major shelter in North Long Beach, event starts in early afternoon. Also, the LA Marathon, registration day on Sat March 14.  Registration on line.
